Panos is Professor of Child Mental Health at the University of Leicester and Visiting Professor at University College London. He has longstanding clinical experience as Consultant Child Psychiatrist in the UK National Health Service with vulnerable children, young people and families, i.e. in care, homeless, adopted, refugees, and young offenders. Panos has published extensively on the impact of trauma on child mental health, evaluation of interventions and services for traumatized children, including those living in conflict settings. Other areas of expertise include school mental health and service evaluation.
Panos is currently involved in several projects with NGOs and academic centres in Asia, Africa and Latin America as founder of the World Awareness for Children in Trauma programme (www.wacit.org). He has expertise in service transformation training (mapping, action plans, implementation and impact indicators); practice-focused training on enhancing psychosocial competencies; training trainers; needs analysis; and service evaluation.
