Dr. Annalisa Addis is the Communications Manager for the Manchester Global Foundation, dealing primarily with managing the various social media profiles and updating this website. Annalisa is also a freelance consultant in the field of humanitarian and development assistance, focusing on project/programme management, monitoring and evaluation, and report writing. Over the years, she has collaborated with several governmental, non-governmental, and internationa organisations, both at headquarters level and in the field (Angola, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea).
Annalisa has a keen interest in global health. When working at the Italian Development Cooperation in Mozambique (2008-2010), she became responsible for monitoring the entire health portfolio and attended health partners' working groups. She subsequently gained familiarity with nutritional interventions when working at the European Commission’s Humanitarian aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) and at the World Food Programme (WFP).
Annalisa holds a PhD in African and International Development Studies, jointly awarded by the University of Cagliari (Italy) and the Ruhr-University Bochum (Germany). Her research focused on the links between humanitarian and development action in Ethiopia, and was based on qualitative interviews and participant observation in Addis Ababa and in Borena region of Ethiopia during and after the 2011-2012 drought response.
An Italian native speaker, she is fluent in English, Portuguese, and French. She also speaks some German and Spanish.
