One of our partners, the Asian Breast Cancer Support Group, will be holding a meeting on Tuesday 11th October 2016 at The Nightingale Centre and Genesis Prevention Centre in Manchester.
Themes under discussion will include risk factors for breast cancer among Asian women, a demographic analysis of Asian breast cancer patients, and updates on patient-to-patient support initiatives. Our trustee Prof. Nusrat Husain, Director of research in Global Mental Health at the University of Manchester, will also discuss a proposed study on the psychological burden on Asian breast cancer patients. The draft programme of the meeting can be downloaded here.
The meeting is eligible for 3 Category 1 RCR CPD Credits. If you wish to attend, kindly contact Saima Rashid, Administrative Assistant ABC Support Group at your earliest convenience.
Founded in 2011, the Asian Breast Cancer Support Group provides a valuable forum for patient and carer group members to interact and share their experiences with each other, taking into account the unique cultural and linguistic needs of Asian breast cancer patients. Its objectives are to assess the availability of information at various steps of patient journey and if necessary update, integrate and translate it into common Asian languages; to support health professionals in communicating effectively with this group of patients; to promote breast cancer awareness among Asian women, and to promote Asian women’s participation in clinical trials. The Asian Breast Cancer Support Group is on Twitter as @BME_CANCER.
